Thanks for following the Rothwell Preservation Trust online.👏
Welcome to our March edition of ‘Market House News’ keeping you in the loop with Rothwell Preservation Trust’s activities and projects.
Did you know there are a number of Family Shields around the Market House roof perimeter? These represent families close to Sir Thomas Tresham who commissioned the construction of the building.
The ‘eagle-eyed’ amongst you will notice one that looks a little different, as it’s not typical of the others from a design perspective – displaying just the letters ‘FB’ 🤔🤔

‘FB’? Was the Market House the ‘Facebook’ of its day!? We doubt it, but the building does display a lot of Sir Thomas Tresham’s friends and followers! 🖖👏🤝. Let us know your thoughts about the significance of ‘FB’… and drop us a line HERE or in the comments below 📝✏️🖊️
The mystery surrounding ‘FB’ is all part of the Trust’s wider research in finding out more about the history of the Shields and the associated families 🔎🔎
If you have any information that might help us or have a background in local history and/or heraldry, The Trust would love to hear from you.
On a broader note, if you’d like to learn more about the Trust and how we’re helping conserve our iconic Market House please get in touch and one of the RPT team will contact you 🤝
