Alistair Mackay served as a Trustee for the Rothwell Preservation Trust from 2013 until his passing in May of this year. He was a well-loved figure around Rothwell and we will all miss his expertise in coins & timepieces, plus his extensive knowledge of the history of Rothwell.

Recently, Alistair donated a series of Postcards to us from his vast collection of Rothwell memorabilia. They all feature images of the Market House. Some are black and white, whilst others are in colour. 👍😀

In memory of our fellow Trustee and friend, we are presenting each Postcard from his collection over the next few months and we hope they bring back memories of our famous building.👏👏

This is another of Alistair’s UNUSED Postcards where once more, we’re unable to identify the year and are relying on the surrounding buildings and other visual clues to narrow things down. This particular Postcard presents us with our biggest challenge to date – can you help? 🤔

At the bottom left, we see the text: Market House, Rothwell, nr. Kettering whilst on the right confirms this photograph is part of the K.I.C.S Series. Extensive research online reveals nothing at all about K.I.C.S in this context.

On the reverse, written vertically in the centre is Guaranteed Real Photo and British Manufacture. Again, no information on whether that was a generic statement or part of ‘K.I.C.S’ marketing strategy.
